Start typing. The first line is the title.

No title field, no blank template, no menus to wade through before you can think. Open Scratchpad and write, and your note is already named, saved and on every device.

Checklists, headings, tables and callouts come straight from the keyboard. Paste Markdown and it arrives formatted. Ticked items can drop to the bottom, out of your way.

Remember one word. Get the whole note back.

Search reads everything you've written, including the words inside your PDFs and attachments, and jumps straight to the line you meant. Press K from anywhere.

Folders, tags and links between notes are there when you want more order. They're never a chore you have to do first.

The search palette with the word pastéis typed in, finding the Lisbon in October note and highlighting the matching line.

Photos, PDFs and voice memos. Right inside the note.

Drop in the floor plan, the signed lease and the photos from the walkthrough, and keep them next to what you thought about them. Write on a PDF, fill in its form, and leave a sticky note on page two.

Record a thought on the walk home. Scratchpad turns it into text you can read, edit and search.

An assistant that has already read the note.

Ask it to compare three quotes, tidy up meeting notes or turn a brain dump into a plan. It works from the note in front of you, and nothing in your note changes until you say yes.

500 assistant messages a month come with the US$12 plan. Bring your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini key instead and there's no limit, for US$9 a month.

A Kitchen renovation note with three contractor quotes in a table, and the assistant panel beside it recommending one of them and explaining why.

Share one note without sharing everything.

Send a link that can read or edit, give it a password or an expiry date, and see when it was last opened. People you invite edit alongside you in real time, no account needed.

Want the whole world to see it? Once you're on a paid plan, publish the note as a clean web page in one click, and unpublish it just as fast.

Lock what's private with a password only you know.

Passport numbers, the bank details, the journal entry nobody else should read. A locked note is encrypted with its own password, there's no way in without it, and Face ID or Touch ID can open it once you've set that up.

Two-step sign-in, passkeys and a full version history look after everything else.

A locked note asking for its password, with the message: This note is encrypted. Sealed with this password. There is no way in without it.

Everything you'd expect, and a few things you wouldn't.

What the free trial includes

Everything above for 7 days, with a few limits while you try it:

  • 75 AI assistant messages, or no limit with your own AI key
  • 5 voice memo transcriptions, up to 2 minutes each
  • No publishing, no connecting Claude and no API until your first payment

A card is needed to start. We'll email you 2 days before your trial ends and again the day before. If you don't cancel, your plan starts on day 7 and every limit above lifts.

Good questions.

How does the free trial work?

Start with a card and you get 7 days to try Scratchpad, with 75 AI assistant messages (no limit if you add your own AI key) and 5 voice memo transcriptions of up to 2 minutes each. Publishing, connecting Claude and the API unlock with your first payment. We email you 2 days before the trial ends and again the day before. Cancel before day 7 and you won't be charged.

What counts as an AI message?

Each question or request you send to the assistant is one message, however long the answer is. The US$12 plan includes 500 a month, which works out to about 16 a day.

What does "your own AI key" mean?

Add an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini in Settings and the assistant uses it instead, with no monthly limit. You pay that provider directly for what you use, and your Scratchpad plan is US$9 a month. That works during the free trial too: add your key and the trial's 75-message limit no longer applies. If your key stops working, we'll email you and the assistant pauses until you fix the key or switch to the $12 plan.

Who can read my notes?

Your notes are private to your account until you share them. For anything sensitive, lock the note with a password of its own: its text is encrypted, and there's no way in without that password, not even for us. Its name stays visible so you can find it, and files in it aren't encrypted.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Add Scratchpad to your home screen on iPhone, iPad or Android and it opens like any other app, with notifications for your reminders. Anything you write offline syncs when you're back online.

Can I take my notes with me?

Always. Export a note or a whole folder as Markdown, plain text or JSON, or download everything at once.

Your next good idea needs somewhere to land.
