Finding a note again
One search box reads your notes, your PDFs, your images, and your transcripts.
Press ⇧⌘K on the notes screen, or tap Search notes at the top of the list, and start typing. Search runs as you type, across everything you have.
Plain ⌘K opens the same box, except with text selected in a note, where it makes a link instead.
What it reads
More than the words in your notes. Search also reads:
- the text inside PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown, text, CSV and JSON files you've attached
- the printed words in your pictures and scanned PDFs, in English and French: screenshots, photos of documents, receipts, and slides. Not handwriting, or words laid over a photograph; see what it reads
- anything you've had transcribed from a recording
- the titles and bodies of notes in the archive
A locked note is the exception. Its contents are encrypted, so there's nothing for search to read until you unlock it.
Narrowing it down
Type more words and the result narrows: every word has to appear somewhere in the note. Each result shows the words around the match, so you can tell two similar notes apart before opening either.
When you'd rather browse
The rail on the left holds your folders, with the counts beside each. A Tags section joins them once you've tagged something.
All notes is everything, most recently edited first. The sort control at the top of the list changes that to date created, to title, or to an order of your own that you set by dragging.
