Your first note
No form to fill in. The first line becomes the title.
Open Scratchpad and type. Nothing to name, nothing to file, nothing to set up first.

The first line is the title
There's no title field. Whatever you type on the first line becomes the note's name in the list, so you can get the thought down before you've decided what it is.
Rename a note from its header and the title sticks from then on. Editing the first line won't change it any more.
It saves itself
No save button. Your edits are written as you type and sync to every device you're signed in on, usually before you've finished the sentence.
The line under the title says where things stand: Synced, Connecting while it's reaching the server, or Offline when there's nothing to reach. It also shows when you last edited the note, and the word count if there's room.
Edits you make offline sit in the browser and go up the moment you're back.
Where notes go
Nowhere, unless you say otherwise. A new note lands in Uncategorized, and that's fine: search reads every note whether or not it's ever been filed.
Folders and tags are there when a pile gets big enough to want them. They're never something you have to do first.
