Sharing a note by link

A link to exactly what you chose, revocable whenever you like.

Share… in a note's menu opens the panel. Fill in what you want the link to allow, then press Create link and copy. Nothing exists until you do. Whoever has the link can open that note, and nothing else.

A locked note can't be shared at all. The panel says so instead.

Read or write

A share can be read-only, or it can let the other person edit. An editor's changes turn up in your copy as they type, and show in the note's history under the name they gave.

Locking it down

A share link can carry a password, and it can be set to stop working after a day, a week, or a month. You choose both where the link is made.

The password can be changed or taken off later, from the same list. The expiry can't be changed once the link exists, so make a fresh link if you need a different one.

Taking it back

The Share tab lists every bare link on the note, when each was last opened, and a button to revoke one. Invitations sit on the Invite tab beside it.

If the note is also in a shared folder, the panel says so: that link is revoked from the folder's own menu in the rail, not here. Revoking is immediate. The next click gets a page saying the link is no longer live.

A whole folder

You can share a folder too, from its own menu in the rail. That grants the folder as it stands and as it changes: a note added to it later is covered by the same link, and a note moved out of it stops being.

Everything in its sub-folders is included as well. Locked notes never are, and a folder link can't carry a password the way a note link can.
